The vote was split as Jennifer Botterill and Luke Gazdic both felt that Kane's time may have passed, and that The US roster is one of the deepest they have had in recent memory. Players such as Kyle Connor, Jack Eichel, Auston Matthews, Clayton Keller, JT Miller, Vincent Trocheck and Jack Hughes to name a few are all slated to be on this roster.
Meanwhile Sam Consentino and host David Amber get there take that the NHL and the NHLPA tend to be traditionalists and will always find a way to place a player of Kane's stature as he still possesses his talents, and still being active contributor for the team as this is a showcase for all four countries that are involved in this tournament.
The three-time Stanley Cup champ with the Blackhawks has begun to heat up with the Detroit Red Wings as he had signed a one-year extension with the team in the summer. Much like the Red Wings, Kane had a slow start but seems to have picked up where he left off last year as he's played 10 games, score two goals with five assists for seven points and still plays up to 17 minutes of average ice time.
This tournament is the first of its kind where four countries will face off against one another which include Canada, Finland, Sweden and the United States. All games will be held in North America with four in Montreal and three in Boston.
Now only time will tell on whether Kane will have his name called and he will get to join his fellow American players.
