He recently spoke to the Chicago Sun-Times and gave a very blunt opinion on the state of the Blackhawks and where he stands in terms of being a member of this squad.
Teravainen was signed by the Blackhawks during the summer as general manager Kyle Davidson felt that he should return to the organization he was with before and help Connor Bedard and the rest of the team with his scoring touch.
He has played 20 games this season, scoring five goals with five assists for 10 points and is a - 11.
Even though the Blackhawks are a far cry from the Hurricanes it is a dramatic drop compared to last season where he played 76 games, scoring 25 goals with 28 assists for 53 points and was a + 15.
The Blackhawks are currently last in the NHL in the standings and with no end insight of this current crisis, it's likely Teravainen might seek a trade request to go to a contender as the Blackhawks are not in any condition to challenge for a playoff spot anytime soon.
He currently has two years remaining on his current deal that he signed with the Blackhawks that has a cap hit of $5.4 million.
One saving grace is that he does not hold a no movement clause and currently has a modified no trade which means Davidson has options if he feels that he can get a good deal for Teravainen.

In the meantime, the Blackhawks will have to play through their issues and try to improve themselves along with Teravainen as trading season will likely take place in March when the NHL trade deadline approaches.
