Transaction: Chicago Blackhawks introduce a new coach into the organization
The Chicago Blackhawks announced on Monday that they've hired Josh MacNevin as the new assistant coach for their AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs.
Before joining the IceHogs, MacNevin, 47, was a defenseman drafted by the New Jersey Devils in 1996.
Although he never played in the NHL, he has a solid coaching background.
He spent seven seasons with the Western Hockey League's Lethbridge Hurricanes and the last three with the Kelowna Rockets.
MacNevin will focus on defense for the IceHogs, specifically working on developing newly drafted defenseman Artyom Levshunov, as well as Ethan Del Mastro and Wyatt Kaiser.
His main task will be to prepare these players for potential moves to the Blackhawks in the coming years.
