Blackhawks comfort Connor Bedard following extremely disappointing loss

The Chicago Blackhawks took a 4-1 loss Saturday night against the Vancouver Canucks, and Connor Bedard's homecoming game to his birthplace was spoiled.

It was regarded as the Blackhawks and Bedard's most anticipated matchup so far early on in this 2024-25 season. In one of their most broadcasted games this season, fans from all around the world tuned in- with the Blackhawks failing to do so with a poor performance.

A late turnover in the third period by Connor Bedard lead to a Canucks goal that sealed the deal, and also comments by fellow Chicago Blackhawks teammates that were comforting the 19-year old phenom, rallying behind him.

"That's just a little bit of salt in the wound I think coming home for his first game here." Said Richardson. "But I saw the guys patting him on the back. It happens. He's trying to do the right thing and get it in deep and he just missed the puck. That just kind of compounds everything but we'll talk to him and support him."

Despite the unfortunate loss, the Blackhawks showed their off-ice chemistry by banding together.

Rookie defensemen Alex Vlasic chimed in on Bedard's tough games, sounding like a veteran with his re-assuring words:

It's getting frustrating," He said. "It's pretty tiring to rely on one goal to win against a good team so we've got to figure out a way to turn it around.

It seems like it's every other game the Blackhawks are getting shutout or held to just one goal this 2024-25 NHL season, Luke Richardson has to do his job and turn this group around- or he could be out the door anytime.
