NHL Insider Chris Johnston reports that the Montreal Canadiens recently changed the roster in the AHL.

Former Chicago Blackhawks draft pick, Nicolas Beaudin, had been playing for the Laval Rocket, the Montreal Canadiens' affiliate in the AHL this season.

Beaudin, who is 24 years old, was drafted in the 1st round of the 2018 draft, 27th overall, but he never quite found a place in the Blackhawks system.

The defenseman has been placed on waivers for the purpose of unconditional contract termination.

The decision was mutual between Beaudin, his agent, and Laval Rocket, as he hasn't been happy with his lack of playing time in the Rocket's system. Beaudin has primarily played in the AHL throughout his career and has made limited NHL appearances totaling 22 in five years.

During the 2022 season, Beaudin was traded to Montreal in exchange for forward Cameron Hillis, and he signed a one-year two-way deal with the Canadiens during the off-season of 2023 in July.

Since he arrived in Laval, the Quebec-born forward has seen limited production, playing 55 games, scoring 2 goals and 29 points.

He is now a free agent and able to find a new home in the meantime, but will he find any takers?
