Brandon Saad saves St.Louis Blues season with OT heroics?
Former Chicago Blackhawks forward Brandon Saad continues to show his clutch performances with the St. Louis Blues.
Saad scored in overtime, helping the Blues beat the Edmonton Oilers 3-2 on Monday night.
With Brayden Schenn scoring twice and Jordan Binnington making 36 saves, the Blues have won 8 of their last 11 games. Despite being three points behind the Los Angeles Kings for the second wild card in the Western Conference, the Blues are staying focused on their game in hopes to secure a playoff spot.
Saad's goal, his 25th of the season, showed his ability to make big plays when it counts, as he did in a Blackhawks jersey. Reflecting on the goal, Saad said it was a lucky bounce, a typical humble veteran move.
«A really lucky bounce actually," Saad said. "I thought I was back-checking there, kind of hit their d-man's top of his stick and got a good break.»
As the Blues keep pushing for a playoff spot, Saad's clutch moments are proving his value on the ice, even at the age of 31.
