Gavin McKenna and Porter Martone, not even eligible for the NHL Draft until 2026 and 2025 respectively, have already made history. McKenna's incredible goal in Canada's semifinal victory over Sweden pushed him past top prospects Tyson Jost and Macklin Celebrini for the most points by a Canadian at the IIHF Men's World Under-18 Championship.

Meanwhile, Martone's two assists in the same game drew him level with McKenna and surpassed Jost and Celebrini.

McKenna's scoring has outshined even the early performances of hockey prodigies Connor McDavid and Connor Bedard, both of whom made waves at the same age. Bedard, in particular, has set a high bar with his previous tournament record of 14 points.

McKenna's sights are now set on breaking the record for the best single-tournament scoring performance by a 16-year-old, currently held jointly by Alexander Ovechkin and Mikhail Grigorenko of Russia at 18 points.

Meanwhile, Martone, born in 2006, will have to wait until next year's draft due to his October birthday. Nonetheless, he's already being touted as a top-five pick for the 2025 NHL Draft, showcasing his immense talent on the ice.

Canada's dominance in the tournament has been fueled by McKenna and Martone's stellar performances.

Their journey reaches its pinnacle as Canada faces off against the United States in the gold-medal game at the U18 Worlds, promising an exciting showdown between two hockey powerhouses.
