NHL prospects reveal these general managers asked them inappropriate questions
NHL prospects can expect to be examined in multiple aspects of their mental and physical prowess during the Scouting Combine.
The combine is great, because sometimes accidentally, players produce some memorable quotes as a result of interviews from different teams.
Some questions are so bizarre, during the interview circuit of the combine, we are floored with the questions and the answer.
NHL prospect Zayne Parekh of the OHL Saginaw Spirit revealed that he was asked to rate different apps. The apps in question, varied from Uber to the infamous Snapchat app.
Parekh rated Uber a "4.92".
It was Zayne Parekh who admitted this was a question. He said his Uber rating was 4.92. He was then asked why the "lower score". He laughed and said "that's a great question."
According to NHL Insider Arpon Basu, it was Utah HC which asked the oddball question to the prospect:
The Utah NHL franchise was asking draft prospects this week at the combine for their Uber passenger rating. I've heard some weird ones over the years, but this one is just puzzling.
The Nashville Predators scouting crew would ask prospects another bizarre question:
"If you were drafted into the war, would you be a sniper, pilot or medic?" asked the Predators as per Mark Scheig.
The Montreal Canadiens came out of leftfield, asking prospects what kind of animal they viewed themselves as, and Cole Hutson knocked it out of the park:
"I picked a narwhalbecause they're rare and one of a kind like me," said prospect Cole Hutson describing them as "whales with a big pointy nose" in the process.
While teams asked prospects oddball questions, the Colorado Avalanche went another route and played board games with their prospects during their interview. Teams continue to find inventive ways to discern personalities and this was just another.
