One of those who will be back on ice soon is Andreas Athanasiou, who has been out on injured reserve.
Due to an injury to his groin, Athanasiou has been on IR since November 23rd, 2023.
Athanasiou was injured on November 9th and placed on injured reserve shortly thereafter.
Luke Richardson said Andreas Athanasiou (groin) won't go on the trip to Colorado and Arizona.
They're hoping he'll be cleared to return for Saturday's game vs. Washington. #Blackhawks Charlie Roumeliotis (@CRoumeliotis) March 3, 2024
According to Scott Powers of The Athletic, he reported to practice on February 20th and was taking part in drills.
Luke Richardson provided an update on the status of Athanasiou recently.
It is unlikely that Athanasiou will travel with the team to Arizona or Colorado, but hopefully, he will be able to return to play on Saturday.
Athanasiou would return to the ice when the team plays the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena, on March 9th at 7:00 p.m.
In only 11 games this season, Athanasiou had posted four assists, with a -5 on the ice.
