37-Year-Old Pro Hockey Player Artem Tortochakov Tragically Passes Away After Disturbing Fight

It's been reported that a KHL hockey player has died after receiving several blows to the head while outside of a nightclub.

Police state that Artem Tortochakov had died in hospital on November 3rd after several witnesses stated that he had a fight just outside of a nightclub. Ria Novosti, which is a Russian state, owned domestic news agency explain that an investigation is underway.

''The press service of the Investigative Committee told RIA Novosti that a criminal case has been opened against a 25-year-old resident of Abakan regarding the death of a 37-year-old man as a result of a fight. According to investigators, on the night of November 3, the deceased and the suspect had a fight while near one of the entertainment establishments in Abakan. Afterwards, the suspect struck the victim several times with his hands and a kick in the head. Then the fight moved further away from the establishment.

The victim was taken to the hospital, however, despite the resuscitation measures taken, it was not possible to save the man."

It was reported that he passed away from a traumatic brain injury and that a suspect has already been identified. He was a player for HC Abakan Metallurg.

A source in the investigative committee told RIA Novosti that there was a conflict between 37-year-old hockey player Artem Tortochakov and a 25-year-old resident of Abakan, which led to the death of the athlete."
