Despite Patrick Kane being the ''showtime'' of Chicago since being drafted in 2007, his contract is set to expire after this season, but his days in Chicago may expire beforehand- at this NHL's trade deadline which is on March 3rd.

One destination that has been discussed for the last few seasons is the New York Rangers, but why? Well, Stan Bowman traded away each and every player that has excelled on Patrick Kane's line, including Artemi Panarin who is Kane's best friend, and is on the New York Rangers.

But what else would make this deal more intriguing?

1. The Rangers hold an impressive prospect pool, something that Kyle Davidson would need in return for the team's superstar is promising prospects to secure Chicago's future, the Rangers have plenty that fall into that category.

2. The Rangers hold $7.1 million in cap space, and have more than enough to take on Kane's contract if the Blackhawks retain 50% of Kane's salary.

NBC Sports Chicago's own Charlie Roumeliotis gave insight on what the Blackhawks would require to trade away Kane (if he were to request one), and here is what he had to say..

Would the Rangers part ways with K'Andre Miller or Braden Schneider? Doubtful. What about Filip Chytil, Kaapo Kakko or Alexis Lafreniere? That's where the conversation would probably go next, and that's where it should go next. Multiple league scouts I spoke to weren't very high on Vitali Kravtsov, so I don't think he'd be a prospect the Blackhawks would get overly excited about.

It'll be heartbreaking for the city of Chicago, but the future will be looking a lot brighter. If Kane is not traded, he'll become a unrestricted free agent after this season and will be able to sign anywhere he'd like, meaning the Blackhawks will receive nothing for Kane's departure.
