AHL Player leaves on stretcher after illegal check
During last night's AHL game between Abbotsford and Bakersfield, Abbotsford defenseman Jack Rathbone was hit from behind by Colton Scevuor. After hitting the boards Rathbone crashed to the ice and lay motionless.
Rathbone was motionless for almost 15 minutes as medical staff from both teams worked on him.
Rathbone was eventually taken from the ice on a stretcher. Both teams left their respective benches to salute Rathbone as he was taken to an ambulance.
Rathbone was unable to deliver the patented thumbs up to the crowd as he left the ice on the stretcher.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Rathbone.
