Alex DeBrincat Requests a Trade Request from the Ottawa Senators
It appears that the situation with Alex DeBrincat has reached its boiling point, as the talented winger expressed his desire to leave Ottawa. This is a disappointing outcome, especially considering the mishandling of the team's sale.
DeBrincat had reasonable concerns about waiting for the sale to conclude before entering contract negotiations.
Well, Alex DeBrincat asks for a trade from the Ottawa #GoSensGo. It's highly unlikely that the Sens get a similar return to what the #Blackhawks got for him after his down year and pending UFA status next season.
In light of his trade request, DeBrincat's agent provided a list of preferred destinations for the player, along with a no-trade list.
It's worth noting that his current qualifying offer stands at $9 million, which means any team interested in him must be able to afford his contract as it is.
LeBrun on Insider Trading: «Alex DeBrincat as his camp led by agent Jeff Jackson has submitted the list of preferred destinations, teams his client would be interested in joining»
Cont'd: «The reason that's significant is of course if Pierre Dorion does trade Alex DeBrincat he would want him to be signed through this trade so that you get maximum value back in return, think of Matthew Tkachuk deal from Calgary to Florida last year." Unfortunately, DeBrincat's recent decrease in production means that any team pursuing him may not receive the same value they paid for him in return, which is a tough pill to swallow.
But the DeBrincat sweepstakes has begun.
