An NHL salary cap estimate for 2024-25 is available from Gary Bettman.
Every year, the NHL raises its salary cap based on a percentage of revenue.
Considering the league's performance over the last two years, Bettman's preliminary estimate suggests that we may finally see a significant increase to the cap.
From NHL BoG: Commissioner Gary Bettman says «very preliminary» estimate for cap next year is between $87-$88M. He stresses it is very preliminary
As per NHL Insider Elliot Friedman, the Board of Governors determined that initial revenue projections for 2024-2025 indicated a salary cap of $87-88 million.
As for now, this is still preliminary, so we'll have to wait and see depending on multiple factors in the league, including escrow.
Many players have had to bail on teams in the last three years due to the salary cap crunch, or teams regret releasing RFAs because of this cap crunch.
It will be easier for us to understand where teams stand with their current roster and how to manage their salary caps once the picture becomes clearer.
