Seattle was holding their own, even outshooting the Avs in the first period, 11-8. But no one scored.
After the first Intermission, Seattle decided to take it upon themselves to change that, and after only one minute and 38 seconds, Jaden Schwartz had the Kraken on the board with a PPG. Social media admins barely had time to post about it, though, before Jared McCann doubled the scored, 22 seconds later. Just under 4 minutes after that, McCann's former Pittsburgh teammate, Evan Rodrigues answered back for Colorado, and all of a sudden, we had a hockey game.
And speaking of former teammates, goalies Grubauer and Fracouz were now facing each other, though with Fancouz having to fend off several more shots than his Stanley Cup winning counterpart. Both were doing their jobs, and the score stayed 2-1 until about midway through the third period. With a tying goal from Byram, and a sliding attempted save, Philip Grubauer pulled something, and had to exit the game.
Enter Martin Jones for his 400th NHL «game». With just under 10 minutes remaining, the Kraken defense went into overdrive, allowing only 1 shot on goal, which Jones stopped. Karson Kuhlman scored for Seattle, and that was it. Being the last goalie on the ice when the winning goal was scored, Martin Jones gets the credit and subsequently hits another milestone of 200 NHL wins.
What a way to get there. But Congratulations are in order, nonetheless.
As for today's game against Chicago, Seattle has recalled Joey Daccord to assist.
Having not been officially placed on IR, Grubauer's injury doesn't appear to be too serious, and he'll hopefully be able to return within a few days.
