Hockey is back at the BMO Center, but it seems the Icehogs left their skates in Winnipeg. Scoring only 3 goals over 2 games and allowing In-State rival Chicago Wolves as well as Divisional rival Manitoba Moose to take 2 victories Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday against the Wolves seemed to be a race to the penalty box for Rockford as they allowed 2 goals on 6 power play opportunities. Rockford would get 1 back via young star Lukas Reichel's power play tally but starter Jaxson Stauber struggled to stop the onslaught from Chicago's 29 shots, mostly coming in periods 1 and 2. Jack Drury, Malte Stromwall, William Lagesson, and Brendan Perlini tallied for Chicago. Zachary Sawchenko made 22 of 23 saves compared to Stauber's 25 of 28 saves. Rockford 1, Chicago 4
Sunday continued Rockford's penalty woes, giving Manitoba 4 power plays to score 2 of their 6 goals. But even in the rough games Rockford's Brett Seney continued his hot early start adding 2 more tallies to his season total. Lukas Reichel added 2 apples to his year as well.
For Manitoba, 6 different scorers including Lukas's cousin Kristian Reichel found the twine.
Rockford is now sitting at 1-3-0
