BREAKING: 24-Year NHL Veteran Officially Announces Retirement From Hockey
It is a big decision to decide to end your career in whatever field you choose. Dedicated to your craft, you strive to excel at it.
As a result of a long NHL career spanning 24 seasons, Joe Thornton has decided to retire. Thornton was drafted 1st overall by the Boston Bruins in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. He spent seven seasons with the team, earning a Captain's patch.

What a career. And what a character !
In 2005-2006, he would split the season with the Boston Bruins and San Jose Sharks and win both the Art Ross and Hart Trophies.
The 44-year-old Thornton ended his NHL career today after a long career. The Boston Bruins, San Jose Sharks, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Florida Panthers were among the teams he played with before the end of his NHL career. In total, Joe played 1,714(!!!) NHL games, scoring 430 goals and 1,109 assists for 1,539 points.
Thornton a fan of going tarps off, announced it in a similar fashion as he walked off into the sunset, marking the end of his exciting NHL career.
