BREAKING - Duncan Keith Has Officially Retired: Blackhawks Hit With Huge Cap Penalty
Duncan Keith has officially announced his retirement from the National Hockey League and professional hockey at whole, Keith will go down as one if not the greatest Blackhawks defenseman in NHL history. Keith was traded to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for Blackhawks defenseman's brother, Caleb Jones. The deal had some odd ends to it, and unfortunately the Blackhawks got the odd end- Keith retiring hits the Blackhawks with a large cap penalty.
Blackhawks insider for NBC Sports Chicago Charlie Roumeliotis revealed the penalties the Blackhawks will be facing and they are not pretty, thankfully the Blackhawks are rebuilding and it won't affect them brutally as they aren't looking to sign a star forward anytime soon.
Duncan Keith's cap penalties on the Blackhawks for the next two years:
2022-23
 Duncan Keith: $5.538 million
2023-24
 Keith: $1.938 million
The Blackhawks posted a amazing and emotional tribute upon the announcement of Keith's retirement, be prepared with some tissues if you choose to watch!
