Nazem Kadri is due for a payday. However, it may not come from the Stanley Cup winning Colorado Avalanche. According to NHL Insider Chris Johnston, there doesn't sound like a «whole lot» of progression on a new contract keeping Kadri in Colorado.

This season, in an explosive Colorado offense, Kadri put up a career year. Kadri tallied 87 points (28 goals) in 71 regular season games. In the playoffs, Kadri had 15 points in 16 games on his way to hoisting the Stanley Cup. While these numbers may be deserving of a big payday, they are a far cry away from his usual scoring output. Since entering the league in 2010, the 2nd highest scoring season in Kadri's career was 61 points in the 2016-17 season for Toronto.

Kadri is 31 years old and seems to have finally found his groove offensively. Colorado would certainly take a hit if they are unable to bring him back. Consistent centers with the scoring touch Kadri proved to have this last season are hard to come by. Not only does he play a great offensive game, he is also not afraid to step up for his teammates. Any team who brings in Kadri would benefit tremendously from his play if he can produce like he did last season.

Whether Kadri is deserving of this next big contract is yet to be seen, but there are numerous possibilities on where Kadri could end up next season. There have been 4 likely destinations for Kadri floating around the rumor mill since the draft ended. Those destinations are Seattle, Boston, Colorado, and Arizona. While it is likely that Kadri will make more outside of Colorado, any of the teams listed could be a great fit. What do you think? Where should Kadri play next season?
