Barry Trotz' Recent Statement Should Be Noted by Every NHL General Manager
Last season, Barry Trotz showed that he was not eager to continue coaching and wanted to prioritize spending time with his family.
Despite his successful tenure in New York and Washington, he received job offers from multiple teams but ultimately decided to take a break from hockey.
Barry Trotz, on the upcoming draft, says he told his scouts to «take some swings, take some high end swings on some guys»
Then adds: «I can find you 3rd line, 4th line guys, no problem. Go get me some guys that get people out of their seats.»
However, he recently made a surprising move by joining the Nashville Predators as their new GM, succeeding David Poile. One of his first actions was to fire coach John Hynes.
Trotz has already garnered respect from the league for his past successes, even though Lou Lamiorello recently fired him.
He has expressed his desire to use the Predators' draft capital to find game-changing players and winners. This sentiment is greatly appreciated by fans. We wish Trotz the best of luck in his new role in Nashville.
