Patrick Kane Reveals Where He Wouldn't Mind Playing Next Season
The New Jersey Devils ousted the New York Rangers from the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
As a result, the team's focus has shifted to personnel changes and acquiring new talent, while also searching for a new coach to replace the recently-fired Gerard Gallant.
In a recent interview, Patrick Kane acknowledged that he may no longer fit into the timeline of the Chicago Blackhawks.
«I haven't really thought about that, to be honest with you,» he said. «I know they're rebuilding, so that's never really crossed my mind, to be honest with you.»
Despite this, he expressed interest in re-signing with the New York Rangers, for whom he will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st. Following the first round of playoffs, it was revealed that Kane had been playing through a lower-body injury.
«Of course, I would love to be back,» Kane told reporters on Wednesday. «If feel like if I can feel better, with this team and this opportunity, I would love that chance.
«I know they have young guys to sign and probably other priorities. It was an amazing experience for me. I still feel pretty young, the passion is still there. I know I can be a top player.»
Although Kane's future team remains uncertain, New York still appears to be a promising destination for the 34-year-old veteran. Kane performed well this season, playing in 73 games split between the Rangers and Blackhawks, scoring 21 goals and 36 assists for a total of 57 points, along with 6 points in the playoffs.
