Blackhawks' GM performance is more than adequate.
Now that this dismal season is about to come to an end for the Blackhawks, many pundits and fans are beginning to review all the trades that general manager Kyle Davidson has done to position this team for the next phase in their rebuilding.
It's certainly a tough pill to swallow for many Blackhawks fans as this team was coveted and feared not so long ago with three Stanley Cup rings on their fingers.
Since becoming the general manager on March 1st, 2022, Davidson has been active in acquiring draft picks and prospects while using his financial capital and remaining talent to bolster this team for a shot at
Connor Bedard.
There were a few trades to point out that will help the Blackhawks very shortly. For instance, he made a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs to acquire
Petr Mrazek And Toronto's first-round draft pick to help get the Maple Leafs out of a cap jam. With Davidson's extensive knowledge of the cap, this was possible.
Another trade to mention is Acquiring Nikita Zaitsev's contract from the Ottawa Senators and sending hardly anything in return while adding a 2023 second-round, and 2026 fourth-round draft pick. This gives the Blackhawks more ammunition to either draft players to fill out the cupboard or use them to flip to acquire more NHL-ready players.
Going into next season, the Blackhawks have a projected cap hit of $40.3 million and only have to sign seven more players.
If Davidson feels he will go the unrestricted free agent route then he might, or he might continue the draft players now and shortly which is highly likely because the Blackhawks have eight draft picks in the first three rounds of this year's entry draft.
Blackhawks fans will continue to wait and see with the future holds especially if Connor Bedard comes to town.
