Patrick Kane was the clock that made the Blackhawks tick this season. While the offensive production for a majority of Kane's season was down, he was still stepping up in big moments and giving his teammates opportunities for success. Connor Murphy spoke after the game in Arizona last night about the impact the trades have made on the team.
Murphy didn't hold anything back. "It's been a tough couple of days... We won't lie about it affecting us a little bit emotionally and psychologically." Murphy also stated, "When it's very abrupt- like we're having breakfast, about to go to morning skate in Anaheim, and guys just stand up and start saying bye- it's hard."
The Blackhawks on ice product has suffered since the trades have started to go down after a season high five game winning streak. The trade of McCabe and Lafferty hurt against Anaheim, and the trade of Kane just deflated the entire locker room. The Blackhawks will have to power forward and work with what they have in order to take any positives out of this season moving forward.
