Cale Makar and Connor McDavid have a new potential rival for the title of top young talent in the hockey world, and his name is Connor Bedard. The 17-year-old has been compared to McDavid and is almost guaranteed to go first overall in the 2023 NHL draft.

Bedard has had an exceptional season in the WHL, leading the league in scoring with an impressive 71 goals and 72 assists for a total of 143 points.

Bedard's talent has caught the attention of hockey analysts and fans alike. In fact, on a recent 32 Thoughts Podcast, hosts Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman discussed Bedard declining a trade to a WHL powerhouse. It's clear that Bedard is a force to be reckoned with and is expected to make a significant impact in the NHL in the years to come.

Friedman and Marek on 32TP says Connor Bedard didn't want to go to the Kamloops Blazers in a potential WHL trade.

(Comment) - Do WHL players have a choice?
(Response) - When you're Connor Bedard yes.

He turned down a trade to a rival team, even though they were a better contender than his current team, the Regina Pats. Bedard, who leads the WHL in scoring, chose loyalty over immediate success, opting to stick with his team and ride it out.
