Do the Blackhawks Have Another Impressive Centre in the Making?
The media has focused primarily on future superstar Connor Bedard over the past few months, who was ultimately drafted as the first overall pick by the Chicago Blackhawks. This outcome was expected, given Bedard's impressive talent and potential.
Now that the draft is over and the team is embarking on the challenging task of rebuilding, there is another centerman in the organization who is projected to become another top talent, positioned right behind Bedard.
The player in question is centerman Oliver Moore, who was selected 19th overall in the 2023 entry draft. This 18-year-old hails from Mounds View, MN, and stands at 5'11" and 194 pounds.
According to eliteprospects.com, Moore is renowned for his speed, winning races to lose pucks, and displaying excellent skating skills.
Considering the Blackhawks' ongoing rebuilding phase and the fluidity of their lineup, it is highly likely that Moore will be slotted in as the second center behind Bedard. This would be fantastic news for the Blackhawks, as it would further strengthen their center depth.
During his time with the US National U18 team, Moore played 61 games, tallying 31 goals and 44 assists for a total of 75 points. He accumulated 26 penalty minutes and maintained a +42 rating.
