The Ottawa Senators made a ground breaking trade last summer acquiring super star Alex DeBrincat from the Chicago Blackhawks to help the Senators compete for a playoff spot.
The Senators had a hell of a year but unfortunately just missed the playoffs but have a lot to build on especially with DeBrincat. However, the Sens maybe losing another star as DeBrincat's contract is up and the pending RFA is looking to get a boat load of cash.
The issue is the Senators are willing to pay DeBrincat and want to sign him long-term, but they aren't sure if DeBrincat wants to stay. As he wants to see where ownership goes before making a decision.
DeBrincat scored 27 goals, and 39 assists in 82 games this season and is just entering his prime hopefully the Senators can make a deal and not lose another super star.
