The Blackhawks have a couple players on the verge on new career highs. Alex DeBrincat is currently sitting at 41 goals on the season. He has already found the back of the net once against the Sabres in their first match-up. Patrick Kane is also nearing a new career high, his in the assist category. He currently has 66 on the season, a mark he set back in the 2018-2019 season. Wouldn't that be something if those two were able to link up on a play that gives them both new career highs? We've seen it time and time again this season. So that is certainly not out of the realm of possibility.
Both teams come into this game playing for nothing more than pride to end the season. The Blackhawks and the Sabres have both been out of playoff contention for quite some time now. However, both teams have been playing somewhat decent as of late. Chicago is 4-6-0 in their last ten, but they have won two straight, so they feel they have a little bit of momentum on their side at the moment. The Sabres come into this game with a record of 5-5-0 in their last ten, having won 4 of their last 5. Let's be transparent though, neither team has played the toughest competition as of late. Nonetheless, fans should expect a competitive game in this one.
The first time these two teams met this season, the Sabres won by a final score of 6-5. The Blackhawks actually blew a 4-1 lead in that game and lost on a goal in the final seconds from Tage Thompson. Still wondering how that one ended up in the back of the net. The Blackhawks will be looking for revenge and go out with a win in 2022. Puck drop is set 6:00 central time.
