Ex Blackhawk call it quits in the NHL
Henrik Borgstrom played 52 games in the Chicago Blackhawks system, during the start of their rebuild phase.
Borgstrom was selected by the Florida Panthers in 2016, 23rd overall in the 1st round of the 2016 draft. Borgstrom would spend 3 seasons between AHL Springfield and Florida before returning home to play HIFK Helsinki before returning to the NHL in 2021-2022 to play for the Chicago Blackhawks.
After his 52 game stint, he would end up being bought out by the Blackhawks and would quickly move to Washington in hopes of getting a shot in the Capitals bottom six.
He would be waived to AHL Hershey where his impact would be limited, with 8 goals and 13 assists in 55 games.
Borgstrom has since moved on the SHL to play for HV71 in Sweden, after playing a total of 111 NHL games.
Borgstrom could be an RFA if the Capitals decide to tender him a qualifying offer, but if not he could return to the NHL an UFA.
