Expectations were low following the Devils' miserable season in 2021-22, but the squad started out strong and hasn't looked back since.

They have a 16-3-0 record thanks to their strong start, which places them second in the NHL only behind the Boston Bruins.

Thoughts and emotions are quite optimistic and joyful for Devils supporters, but the doubters are still very much there.

In fact, Keith Yandle recently expressed his opinions on the Devils' chances of winning the Stanley Cup and/or succeeding in the playoffs.

And Devils supporters won't take kindly to it.

«No, I don't even think they're going to make the playoffs,» said Yandle about the Devils playoff chances.

Yandle then made an attempt to defend his position, although it is difficult to agree with him at this time given that the Devils' success has been a team effort and that their lineup as a whole has produced well.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a squad that has looked better in terms of metrics.

Meghan Chayka, co-founder of Stathletes, stated that "the Devils are all about high event hockey this season." This group is conducting themselves like a destructive offensive force.

Chayka continued to describe the Devils in this way.

With an average of 14.9 shots per game at event strength after 16 games, the Devils are the top club in the NHL in producing shots off the rush, according to Chayka. 11.8 shots per game are the league average.

«The quality of chances has contributed to the Devils leading the NHL in expected goals (3.46 per 60 minutes) and high danger shot attempts (15.72 per 60 minutes) at even strength.»

Analysts are known to be either yin or yan, and not all viewers will be pleased with their takes and comments. But this seems like an I told you so, and potentially a take that will come back to bite Yandle come playoff time.
