Former Blackhawks 3x Cup Champion Retires After Saddened Details Revealed
The Chicago Blackhawks dynasty is no more, as players have been scattered amongst the league, retired, traded, or suffering from a long-term illness.
One of the remaining players who played his last game in the NHL in 2021 has made a big decision to retire, and the reason is truly sad.
Hjalmarsson won three Stanley Cup rings with the Chicago Blackhawks and stuck it out in the NHL until 2021, with the Arizona Coyotes.
He has announced his retirement, after suffering a career-ending injury from Orebero's Emil Larsson.
A tough way to go for someone who likely wasn't ready to end his career, but after moving on from the NHL, he landed back home in the SHL to play for his former club HV71.
"It has taken a while, last week was the first time I felt completely one hundred percent. I was wondering and a little scared when it went on for so long. I will see if I come back to another role in the future. I love hockey, that's what I've done and that's what I can do. Some kind of coach would be exciting to try."
It sounds like after all of his time playing, after some rest and relaxation he may come back in a supporting or coaching role in the future.
Best of luck and congrats to the Hammer, your time in Chicago will never be forgotten!
