Future All Star centerman shows the love while-being drafted.
Future All-Star Adam Fantilli, the fan favourite of Team Canada during the World Junior Championships last December, was selected 3rd overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets.
General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen and President John Davidson were eagerly waiting to announce his name, knowing they had just drafted their number-one center for years to come.
During the draft, they announced that Fantilli had over 125 people in the stands to watch him.
This exceptional centerman has a strong support system and demonstrates his deep devotion to his family and friends, who have been with him every step of his journey toward becoming an NHL star. As he walked towards the podium to receive his jersey and shake hands with the Blue Jackets' management, he revealed that his inner vest bore the names of everyone involved in his path to success.
This display of gratitude and humility truly reflects the character of this young man, ensuring he will never forget those who have played a significant role in his career.
As the Blue Jackets had been focusing on acquiring wingers and other talent to bolster their lineup for the upcoming years, they were in desperate need of a new center.
With the impending announcement of head coach Mike Babcock, the acquisition of
Ivan Provorov from the Flyers, and last year's signing of Johnny Gaudreau, Kekalainen and Davidson are establishing a solid foundation for a competitive Blue Jackets team shortly.
