Happy Birthday to an NHL Legend: Kimmo Timonen
Today marks the birthday of former NHL defenseman Kimmo Timonen, who turns 48 years old. Timonen had a long and successful career in the NHL, playing for several teams including the Nashville Predators, Philadelphia Flyers, and Chicago Blackhawks.
Timonen was known for his smooth skating and strong defensive play, earning him numerous accolades throughout his career. He was named an NHL All-Star five times and won the Barry Ashbee Trophy as the Flyers' best defenseman four times.
In addition to his success on the ice, Timonen was also known for his leadership and character off the ice. He was a respected veteran in the locker room and a role model for younger players.
Since retiring from the NHL in 2015, Timonen has continued to be involved in the hockey community, coaching and mentoring young players in his native Finland.
