On Sunday, the Blackhawks revealed Jake McCabe may miss some time dealing with a lingering lower-body injury. From Ben Pope reporting from the Hawks practice, head coach Derek King commented,
Jake McCabe aggravated a nagging lower-body injury today. King doesn't know severity or timeline yet.
King's comments indicate the club is unsure whether McCabe will be held out of the lineup for this aggravated injury, or if he will continue to play through the pain and try to manage the injury.
Losing McCabe in the top four would weaken the Blackhawks defence significantly, in a season with enough hardships already. Signed through 2025 with a modified no trade clause, McCabe is a piece the Hawks will seem to keep through what could be a short roster re-tool.
