As the moment of truth is almost upon us, the NHL, along with its fan base, eagerly anticipates the start of the 107th season. While the Connor Bedard hype continues, the Blackhawks, along with other NHL organizations, are putting the finishing touches on their rosters after sending numerous players down to the minors and assigning them to their AHL teams.
Unfortunately, one player will have to wait as Colton Dach has sustained a right ankle injury.
Colton is the brother of former Blackhawk Kirby, who sustained multiple injuries in Chicago
The 20-year-old center-winger, standing at 6 feet 4 inches and weighing 196 pounds, is the younger brother of former Blackhawks forward Kirby Dach. Colton was drafted in the 2021 entry draft, selected in the second round, 62nd overall.
He split his time last year between the Kelowna Rockets and the Seattle Thunderbirds. He competed in the Memorial Cup with Seattle where they lost to the Quebec Remparts.
It is unfortunate that he is expected to be sent to the Rockford IceHogs once he has fully healed from his injuries. The Blackhawks will kick off their season on the road against the Pittsburgh Penguins on October 10th. The game is scheduled for 8:00 PM Eastern Time.
