The number 7 has become one of the most iconic numbers in sports, both on and off the ice. Off the ice, guys like Mickey Mantle, Cristiano Ronaldo, and John Elway are just some of the athletes that come to mind. On the ice, guys like Tim Horton, Ray Borque, and Paul Coffey are just a few that come to mind.
When it comes to the Blackhawks, there have been a few guys come around wore number 7 that left their mark in Blackhawks history. One of those players is Brent Seabrook. Seabrook played a pivotal role in the Blackhawks 2010s dynasty. Seabs was a first round draft pick of the Blackhawks in the 2003 NHL Draft (14th overall). He would make his NHL debut in the 2005-2006 season with Chicago, where he would stay until the 2019-2020.
As a defenseman, Seabs wasn't expected to put up big numbers. Sure in today's game, that is a nice bonus as a defenseman, but that wasn't Seabs game. Him along with Duncan Keith were more of those "grinder" type players out on the ice. More of a throwback player if you will. What Seabs lacked in offense, he made up for in physicality. Only 2 seasons out of 13 year career did he have under 100 hits on the season. And 3 of the seasons, he had over 200. Certainly one of the most memorable defensemen in Blackhawks history. And on top of that, one the best to ever wear the number 7 for Chicago.
Check out some Brent Seabrook highlights here:
