Former Colorado Avalanche defenseman Jack Johnson finally had his day with Lord Stanley this past weekend. After winning the Stanley Cup, Johnson told reporters that his children wanted to "eat ice-cream out of the cup". Well, apparently his kids got their wish!
Johnson took the Cup to Dublin, Ohio, which is a suburb just north of Columbus. Johnson and his family took the cup to numerous restaurants and had a small family gathering, just like most players tend to do on their day with the cup. He made good on his promise (after checking with the keeper of the cup of course) and let his children eat an ice-cream sundae out of the cup!
Jack Johnson is currently an unresticted free agent, but is looking to go back to Denver for a chance to repeat with the Avalanche. Who knows, maybe the Johnson clan will get to have ice-cream out of the cup again next year!
