In hindsight the Calgary Flames had a very good 2022 season. They were one of the best teams the entire year and many felt they were Canada's best hope for a Stanley Cup.
Unfortunately for the Flames They got destroyed by Connor Mcdavid and the Edmonton Oilers in the second round to the dismay of Flames fans and the players.
What's even worse for Flames fans as their were rumors running around during the season that Johnathan Gaudreau was going to leave Flames Nation and test free agency.
Unfortunately for Flames fans that appears to be the case. After reports that Johnny Hockey didn't like the Flames offer for whatever reason it's believed he's going to indeed become a free agent July 13th
Gaudreau had the best season of his career racking up a 115 point year. In the five-decade history of the Flames franchise, Gaudreau departing as a free agent would be unprecedented.
The Flames offered $76 million dollars with a annual salary of $9.5 million dollars to Gaudreau but according to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, Gaudreau has shut down all negotiations between his agent and the Calgary Flames.
