A number of media outlets have asked current NHL stars for their opinions on Bedard's future career now that he has been selected by the Blackhawks and has enjoyed a summer in the spotlight.
Maple Leafs superstar Auston Matthews was also a budding superstar when he was selected first overall in the NHL draft. Maple Leafs fans were excited about the prospect of having him in the lineup, and when he played his first game, there was reason for hope.
In his career debut, he faced the Ottawa Senators on October 12, 2016, and made history by scoring four goals in his first appearancea record that remains unbroken. During a media scrum with the Maple Leafs, Matthews was asked how many goals Bedard would score in his first NHL game.
I'm sure Matthews was enjoying a playful moment with the media. However, I do believe Bedard will score multiple times during his debut with the Blackhawks. He has demonstrated during preseason that his talent and hockey IQ are exceptional, and he will undoubtedly help lead the Blackhawks into a new era.
