It's been a very stressful time for the Philadelphia Flyers and one of their prospects Russian Goaltender Ivan Fedotov. After the news this weekend broke that Fedotov was detained by the Russian Government after his plans to leave Russia to play for the Philadelphia Flyers this season.
The Russian Government was trying to charge Fedotov because they feel he's evaded military service.
The New York Times reports that Russian outlets said:
"Fedotov was arrested at a St. Petersburg hockey rink on Friday and taken to an army enlistment office. There is a mandatory one year of service for Russian men."
Fedotov who was currently playing in the KHL signed a entry level contract in May.
His manager as well as a local Russian reporter stated that he was poisoned, and then was escorted to a hospital. Where military were planted outside.
He was also injected which made him lightheaded to the point where he could not keep his eyes open.
In a Tweet that's obviously been forced to be taken down by Russian Government A Russian reporter named Aivis Kalnins would comment saying:
"From what I've gathered, They are trying to force goaltender Ivan Fedotov to sign a new contract with CSKA otherwise, he reports to the Army. Human rights doesn't exist in Russia."
The Flyers drafted Fedotov in the seventh round 188th overall of the 2015 NHL Draft. Fedotov lead Russia to the Silver medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics this past February in Beijing.
