Mitch Marner made Toronto Maple Leafs history last night on Saturday against the Toronto Maple Leafs with the first goal of the game, to earn himself the longest point streak by a Maple Leaf in history!
Mitch Marner has passed Eddie Olczyk and Darryl Sittler for a longest point streak by a Maple Leaf ever in history with nineteen games played!
Despite Marner breaking the record book for the Maple Leafs, it brought up a very familiar situation for Steven Stamkos that took place in the 2009-10 season.
''I remember it like it was yesterday," said Stamkos of his streak ending in 2009. "Because my sticks got stolen after the game at the Toronto airport by Toronto security and then I didn't get a point the next game, so I remember that pretty clear.''
Stamkos ended his point streak at eighteen games, just one shy of Marner's nineteen which left a sour taste in Stammers mouth.
