PK Subban sends utterly ridiculous message to Connor Bedard on the web
In the wake of two spectacular lacrosse-style goals in the National Hockey League, courtesy of rising stars Trevor Zegras of the Anaheim Ducks and Connor Bedard of the Chicago Blackhawks, former NHL defenseman P.K. Subban has weighed in on the eye-catching maneuvers.
While Subban showered praise on the skills displayed by Zegras and Bedard, labeling their moves as "absolutely disgusting" in a positive context, he didn't shy away from expressing the flip side of the coin.
"Trevor Zegras, Connor Bedard, absolutely disgusting," exclaimed Subban. "In that moment they expose not only the goaltender but all 5 players on the ice, embarrass them in front of 20,000 and millions of people watching from coast to coast. I think it's absolutely awesome."
Despite his overall positive sentiment, Subban revealed he'd take a swing and go after Bedard if he did that while Subban was playing.
"Is this great for the game? Well, I don't know," Subban pondered. "I'm telling you something, if I was playing, I'd probably take a swing at 'em."
Subban's mixed reaction to the extraordinary goals highlights the fine line between admiration for skill and the competitive fire that fuels elite athletes.
His comments may serve as a subtle cautionary note to the young NHL stars about the potential reactions from players on the receiving end of such dazzling plays.
