Unless you were living under a rock this off-season you have heard about one of the biggest deals throughout the National Hockey League in many years.
The Florida Panthers sent their captain, Jonathan Huberdeau, as well as the teams second-best defensemen McKenzie Weegar and a first round pick to go along with the package to the Calgary Flames in a blockbuster deal, the Panthers received forward Matthew Tkachuk.
But before the deal took place, the Calgary Flames' best forward Johnny Gaudreau notified the Flames' management stating he wanted out of Calgary, but told the media he wanted to play ''closer to home'', as he kept some inside information secretive, but it has now been revealed.
The Calgary Flames did Johnny Gaudreau A LOT dirtier then everyone expected, and his parents confirmed that..
''The summer before, if the Flames had offered him something close to what he was worth, Johnny would have stayed in Calgary for the next eight years, it wouldn't have been a problem. The Flames offered him a contract, but it wasn't even close to his value... It was a joke. He was really, really embarrassed.''
This is quite sad to hear, when Gaudreau was asked why he is leaving the Flames he stated that he wanted to be ''closer to come'', when he was traded to Columbus he was no where close to his home, but now it all makes sense.
