Rangers Defensemen Releases Controversial Statement After Spitting in The Face of Drew Doughty
Last night in New York the Rangers hosted the Los Angeles Kings who were hungry for a win, the Rangers were as well and it made for the perfect playoff-type of feel atmosphere.
Veteran LA Kings defensemen
Drew Doughty engaged in an altercation with youngster defensemen
K'Andre Miller, who ended up being ejected after performing a nasty gesture towards Drew Doughty.
Miller made direct eye contact with Drew Doughty before sending a large amount of spit directly towards Doughty's face. See it for yourself:
Directly after the game it was reported that Miller spoke with Doughty and apoligized, but now today, one day later, Miller released a statement on social media that is drawing controversy:
I wanted to take a moment to address what occurred in last night's game. I have all the respect in the world for Drew Doughty and what happened was completely accidental. I would never intend to do something like that on purpose, it goes against everything lam as a person and player. I felt awful about it and I am thankful Drew gave me the opportunity to apologize and explain myself in person after the game.
Many are calling a lie on this statement, and understandably so. Regardless it is a respectful move to release a public apology but it seems as if he is denying the fact that he purposely meant to spit towards him...
