Red Wings Place Young Forward on Waivers; Hawks Should Get Him
The Detroit Red Wings have placed young forward Filip Zadina on waivers.
Filip Zadina is a 23-year-old RW and was the 6th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
He's making $1,800,000 for the next two years. Zadina had 3 goals and 4 assists, tallying up to 7 points in 30 games this season. Filip has played a total of 190 NHL games with 68 points. Zadina had 15 points in 28 games in 2019 until a fractured ankle forced him out for the remainder of the season, and he was never the same player again.
Kyle Davidson should pick up Filip Zadina. He has a decent shot and is a good skater, which is exactly what Davidson likes and is looking for. Plus, maybe a change of scenery is all he needs, and I trust that Luke Richardson can help his game out a lot.
If he does join us, he'll probably have a third line RW role. There is really no downside to this. Zadina will be cheap, and we already seen what he can do before his ankle injury, the team is nowhere near competitive yet so there's time for him to breathe. Kyle should give him a shot.
