Whenever Seth Jones decided to head over to the Chicago, he sure did not expect to be apart of a multi-year rebuild. Although Seth Jones got PAID, and is amongst the top 5 highest paid defensemen in the entire NHL ahead of Cale Makar, Jones is not the happiest with how things have unfolded.

As mentioned by Mark Lazerus of the Athletic, Jones saw future Hall of Famers Kane, Toews and Marc-Andre Fleury, and sure as heck didn't see this coming.

"It's a little bit weird", said Jones. It's not something that a few years ago, i thought was going to happen. When i looked at our team, we had a bunch of young player that we could build around, and now it's kind of taken a turn".

Jones would continue on by stating the following:

Yeah, i'm becoming more mentally prepared now. It's not easy, obviously. This is my 10th year in the league and i haven't really won much. I've been in the second round one time. That's what we play for. I play for the playoffs and the chance to win in the postseason.

Many would agree with Jones, as the Chicago Blackhawks had Kirby Dach, Alex DeBrincat and Brandon Hagel to build around but decided to send all three packing.

Head coach Luke Richardson would state the following regarding Seth Jones being "impatient":

«It's just a highly competitive athlete that's at the top of his game that wants to win,» Richardson said. «I think he just was trying to push maybe a little too hard in the wrong areas at the beginning of the year and got off his game a little bit. He's just really recognizing that, and dialing back and playing defense, being a good, solid defenseman. It took some time. Now he's creating offensively at the right times without being risky defensively. He's a quiet leader in the room and on the bench, and I think he's settled into what he is and what he means to this team. The All-Star selection was warranted and I think he really took it to heart. He played great there and he's played great ever since.»
