The Blackhawks Are Preparing to Ship Away a Young Defensemen
Michael Derosa reports that the Chicago Blackhawks are continuing their rebuild and are expected to entertain offers for Ian Mitchell during the upcoming offseason.
Although still young at 24 years old, Mitchell may not fit into the Blackhawks' current rebuilding plan. This is evident as they have already moved several young players during the rebuild. Hence, it wouldn't come as a surprise if Mitchell ends up being the next one to be traded away.
For teams in need of defensive depth on the right side, Mitchell could be an attractive option. He has the potential to become a reliable bottom-pairing defenseman in the NHL, and a change of scenery could help him take the next step in his development.
At this point, it's unclear whether Mitchell will indeed be traded. However, it may be the best move for his career, and only time will tell if he ends up being dealt from the Blackhawks organization.
