As reported this morning by Ben Pope, the Chicago Blackhawks are calling up Fillip Roos from the Rockford IceHogs.

Before signing as a free agent with the Blackhawks last May, the Swedish native played for Frölunnda HC and Skellefte AIK.

Though Roos has spent the majority of his time in Rockford (28 games, 3G, 6A) this season, he is no stranger to NHL ice time, either. His NHL record for 22-23 consists of 15 games and 3 point (1G, 2A).

The 24 year old defenseman was called up to help fill the gap left by injured newcomer Andreas Englund, who will be out for at least a few weeks with a pulled hamstring. And at 6'4», Roos is one of Chicago's tallest defensemen.

The Blackhawks are coming off a 4-3 comeback loss to Detroit, and will headed to Florida for back-to-back games against the Panthers, tomorrow, and the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday.
