Everyone's heard the saying, «Age is just a number», right? Well, it seems like they made it up just for the sake of Jaromr Jágr's stats.
This past Monday, just over a week before his 51st birthday, the former NHLer scored his 1099th goal, surpassing Wayne Gretzky for most professional goals in hockey history.
Jágr completed his career in North America in 2018 with 844 regular season and playoff goals. He added 93 goals in the Russian league/Kontinental Hockey League, 107 in the Czechoslovak and Czech leagues and 55 at international competitions, including the Olympics, World Cups, world championships and Euro Hockey Tours.
Recently, he was featured in The Athletic's NHL 99 List at Number 5.
Currently, Jágr plays for, as well as owns, then Kladno Knights - a team he debuted with as a teenager. How fitting it is to set this incredible milestone with the team that got him started.
