Today begins Evander Kane's NHLPA grievance hearings in New York City. The duration of the proceedings is unknown, but it is unlikely that a decision will be reached, today. The NHLPA filed a grievance on behalf of Evander Kane after the Sharks placed him on unconditional waivers in January, and terminated his contract. This was done after he breached his player contract by traveling to Vancouver while in COVID-19 protocol. Kane ended up playing for the Sharks' AHL team, the Barracuda, after clearing waivers last November, following a 21 game suspension. On January 27, Kane signed a one year deal with the Edmonton Oilers, and has had 16 goals and 31 points in the 37 games he's played for them. The team is scheduled to play Dallas in Edmonton on Wednesday. Kane is rather well-known for having issues on and off the ice - most recently getting into an altercation with Ryan Hartman of the Minnesota Wild, which resulted in fans rallying for Hartman (who was fined in the incident) and ended with a hefty donation to a Minnesota Children's Hospital. Even Kane's ex-wife made a sizable donation. Kane, himself, however, has not been reported as a contributor.
