It was a history making night for the country of Slovakia at the 2022 NHL Entry Draft this is also special for hockey as a whole.
It all started with the Montreal Canadiens General Manager Kent Hughes selecting Slovakia born Juraj Slafkovsky first overall. This is the first time a player from Slovakia has been selected first overall in NHL history.
History continued with the New Jersey Devils General Manager drafting Simon Nemec also from Slovakia second overall. This is also the first time a Slovakia born player has been drafted this high.
Slovakia would also make history with the most picks in the countries history having 3 picks in this draft when the Montreal Canadiens would step back up to the podium and select Filip Mesar 26th overall.
The 3 Slovaks who were drafted making NHL history, have been friends since kids as shown below! Unbelievable!
